About ChineseMenu

ChineseMenu is a free traveler's tool that helps you read, translate and order real Chinese dishes — in English, Chinese characters and pinyin, with typical prices and a printable point-to-order card.

Our mission

We built this after watching too many first-time visitors stare at a wall of Chinese characters and order by blind pointing. The goal is simple: give you the picture, the name, the price and the phrase — so the moment you sit down, you already know what you want.

Who writes and verifies this

ChineseMenu is researched and written by an editorial team of long-time China residents — travel writers, native Mandarin editors and food researchers — who verify dish names, pinyin and prices against real menus in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai and beyond.

Prices are typical mainland-China ranges, refreshed every quarter. City guides draw on well-known food streets and the dishes locals actually order. Chengdu is aUNESCO City of Gastronomy, one of the official sources we cross-check.

How we make money

We do not sell placements. No restaurant pays to appear anywhere on this site, and no dish is sponsored. Every recommendation is made independently on merit. The site is supported by affiliate links to travel tools where clearly marked; these never influence what we list.
